What matters before you buy, without the small print.
Will the eSIM work with my phone?
Your device needs to be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked. That covers iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Quick check: dial *#06# — if an EID appears, your phone supports eSIM.
When should I install the eSIM?
Ideally before you fly, on your home Wi-Fi. Installing uses no data and does not start your plan — it simply means the eSIM is already on your phone when you land in Turkey.
When does my plan start counting down?
Not at purchase, and not at installation. The validity period begins the first time the eSIM connects to a mobile network in Turkey, so buying days ahead is completely safe.
Do I keep my own phone number?
Yes. Your physical SIM stays in the phone and stays active, so calls and texts still run through your usual number. Only mobile data goes through the eSIM. To avoid roaming charges, turn off data roaming for your physical SIM in settings.
Do I get a Turkish phone number?
No — this is a data-only eSIM with no number of its own. WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, FaceTime and video calls all work normally over the data connection.
How fast is the connection in Turkey?
The eSIM uses local partner networks. 4G is available throughout the cities and holiday regions, and 5G on supported plans and devices. Coverage is dense in Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir and along the whole coast.
What happens when I run out of data?
You can top up at any time. Under “My eSIMs” choose Top-up and add more data to the same eSIM — no reinstallation and no new QR code.
Can I share a personal hotspot?
Yes. Tethering and personal hotspot work as usual, so you can connect a laptop or a travel companion's phone. Shared data simply comes out of your package allowance.
What if the eSIM does not activate?
Toggle airplane mode off and on, and check that data roaming is enabled for the eSIM — that is required and normal for a travel eSIM. If that does not help, select the network manually in settings. Your QR code and credentials stay available in your account at any time, and our support team is reachable by chat.
