West Coast Loop Inverness to Wester Ross and Ullapool Scenery

This adventure will take you deep into the heart of the Scottish highlands through the heathlands, dramatic landscapes lochs, coastlines, majestic mountain ranges, stunning scenery, wildlife, including raptors and deer. Stopping at Glen Docherty viewpoint and amazing Victoria Falls. Pass Loch Maree to the village of Gairloch. We stop at the Gairloch Museum, a converted nuclear bunker with galleries showcasing the history, culture and natural heritage of this beautiful area. Following the coastline, view Gruinard Bay, Little Loch Broom, the Dundonell mountain range enjoying the rugged mountain views with stunning viewpoints. Visit the fishing village of Ullapool, northern gateway to the Outer Hebrides. You have free time to enjoy the ambiance of the area, local retail outlets, eateries, or indulge in a light refreshment and local hospitality. This day showcases some of the Highlands most stunning scenery, avoids the large crowds, hustle and bustle that other areas experience.

   Stop 1

   Arriving at the Glen Docherty viewpoint with breath taking views over Loch Maree and the village of Kinlochewe. We will stop for a photo opportunity and to enjoy this moment.

   Loch Maree

   15 min

   The route passes adjacent to Loch Maree, with over 60 islands, under the gaze of the Torridon mountains and the dominating Munro mountain known as Slioch, until we reach the impressive Victoria Falls, named after Queen Victoria, who visited there in 1877.

   Gairloch Museum

   1.5 hours

   We will make our way along the winding single track road to the seaside village of Gairloch. We will stop at the Gairloch Museum, located in a converted nuclear bunker with galleries showcasing the history, culture and natural heritage of this beautiful area of the northwest highlands. Displays include the original lens from Rubh Re lighthouse, a replica croft house showing how people used to live.

   Gruinard Bay

   Following the coastline, we reach Gruinard Bay offering another stunning viewpoint with a further photo opportunity.

   Stop 5

   10 min

   We will travel along the coast by Little Loch Broom adjacent to the Dundonell mountain range enjoying the rugged mountain views and Little Loch Broom. We will stop at a viewpoint for a further photo opportunity.

   Ullapool

   2 hours

   The tour will make its way back towards the fishing village of Ullapool, the gateway to the northern isles of the Outer Hebrides. Here you’ll have free time to enjoy the ambiance of the area, local retail outlets, eateries, or indulge in a light refreshment and local hospitality.

   Garve

   10 min

   We will have a comfort stop at Silver Bridge, Garve, with a photo opportunity, to view the cascading waters over the mini falls.

   Scottish Highlands

   We will endeavour to see some Highland Cows at secret locations. However these are periodically relocated by their owners for grazing.
