Experience TUNASHOGUN at SUSHIROKU in Tokyo's Roppongi district: a whole bluefin tuna carved in front of you, then a 10-course tuna menu, all-you-can-eat sushi and unlimited drinks. The tuna comes out at 7:15 PM. The head comes off and the body is opened with a blade longer than your arm. There is no stage and no barrier: you stand right at the counter, close enough to hear the cut. Photos and videos are encouraged. Next, take a spoon and scrape the nakaochi straight off the spine and eat what you scrape. Then comes the tuna shot: sake poured through the tuna's head and straight into your mouth. From around 8:00 PM, enjoy a 10-course menu made from the bluefin you just watched being cut, from rare cuts such as noten and cheek to akami, chutoro, otoro and kama-toro. After the courses, keep ordering sushi from the refill menu while quantities last. Sake, beer, highballs and soft drinks are included throughout. Last order is 9:00 PM; the experience ends at 9:30 PM. Standing format; seats can be added for an extra charge paid at the venue. English-speaking staff guide you through the show (hosted in Japanese), and an English menu is available. Solo guests are welcome.
