Overview

The Sunset Strip is one of the most famous streets in the world. Every single block has a story to tell about the celebrities, mobsters, hotels, and clubs that line the strip. Infamous rock venues are mixed in with art deco noir hotels that still welcome A listers on a daily basis. This walking tour is a deep dive into the true crime and ghost stories of Sunset Boulevard. You'll hear about gangsters like Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and see where they "took care of the competition." Tales of Charles Manson, the Wonderland Gang, and Sunset Killers will keep you up at night. And, hopefully you won't go home with a spirit after passing some of LA's most haunted locations! No other tour focuses on the exploring the notorious history of Sunset Blvd like this one. As a single person tour operator, you are guaranteed to get the writer of the tour as your guide. Please note that this is a walking tour!

What's included

  • We provide the guide and the knowledge, you just arrive ready to learn!

    Itinerary

    1. 1

      Sunset Boulevard

      15 min

The tour starts with an amazing view of the Hollywood Hills and Sunset Blvd as we dive into the overall history of how the Sunset Strip developed from a dirt road used by farmers to the world famous street it is today! From this view, we will also dive into notorious Wonderland Murders!

    2. 2

      Sunset Strip

      10 min

If the walls could talk in any building in the world, you'd talk to the Chateau Marmont. Full of celebrity secrets and haunted by a dark past, the Chateau Marmont is a notorious celebrity hangout where the parties can end in tragedy. From Lindsay Lohan to John Belushi, we will discuss some of the more famous and lesser known stories of the Chateau Marmont. To end our discussion, I'll fill you in on some of the paranormal occurrences that have been reported at the hotel.

    3. 3

      Cabo Cantina - Sunset Strip

      5 min

The pandemic spelled the end of the Cabo Cantina, but you'll learn about the wild cult that occupied the restaurant in the 1970's and the dangers of hang-gliding!

    4. 4

      William S. Hart Dog Park

      10 min

This little dog park hides the oldest building left on the Sunset Strip. But, we aren't here to discuss cute dogs! Looming above the park, is the Sunset Tower; an art deco masterpiece where mobsters and movie stars lived and drank together. Here, we will dive into mobster "Bugsy" Siegel's time in LA.

    5. 5

      Comedy Store

      10 min

The biggest names in comedy all cover the exterior of the Comedy Store. On any given night, you could see superstar comedians trying new jokes or discover a comic to watch. But what was here before the store? And do the violent actions of the past carry on today? Let's find out!

    6. 6

      Sunset Plaza

      5 min

Today, Sunset Plaza is known for the real estate offices of the Oppenheim Group, the stars of the Netflix show "Selling Sunset". A hundred years ago, Sunset Plaza was just being developed and was still surrounded by oranges and lima beans. Over the next century, movie stars and mobsters would run bars, clubs, gambling dens, commit insurance fraud, blow up buildings, and go home with a frozen steak over a black eye after getting too rowdy in the nearby celebrity apartments.

    7. 7

      The Viper Room

      10 min

Our most murder filled true crime tour ends by the Viper Room to remember River Phoenix and to discuss the dangers (and allure) of the Hollywood lifestyle!

    Meeting and pickup

We will meet at the corner with the stairs. This is at the corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights. There is a parking lot at the mall and several in the surrounding area.

    End point

The tour ends at the Viper Room. Does NOT end where we began. You can walk back the meeting point in about 20 minutes, take a quick rideshare, or use the bus to quickly return to the meeting point.
