The sunset at the Manialtepec Lagoon is a natural spectacle that paints the sky and water in vibrant shades. The lagoon is home to microorganisms called dinoflagellates that glow in the dark. When moving the water, the plankton emits a bright blue light, visible when it is already at night. For better observation, the sky should ideally be dark, so avoid full moon nights. The rainy season (May to December) is the best time to appreciate this phenomenon more intensely.
