Shimba Hills is especially renowned for its rare sable antelopes, known for their elegant scimitar-shaped horns used to fend off predators. The park also shelters elephants, giraffes, bush pigs, and diverse birdlife. Birdwatchers will be in paradise—over 111 species have been recorded here, including 22 coastal endemics such as the palm-nut vulture, African hawk-eagle, and the elusive honeyguide. After the drive, stretch your legs on a guided hike to the scenic Sheldrick Falls, a round-trip walk of 1 to 2 hours through lush forest trails.
