  2. 2

    Castelo dos Mouros

    1 hour

With a privileged view of the Atlantic Coast, the valleys and the Serra de Sintra, the millennial Castle of the Moors, of the Muslim Foundation, occupied a key strategic Ranking in defending the local territory and the maritime access to the city of Lisbon. The Moors lived there until 1147, when Sintra was handed over to D. Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal following the conquests of Lisbon and Santarém. The Guide will also make the historical contextualization about the Castle.

  3. 3

    Quinta da Regaleira

    1 hour

Sintra was, in the 19th century, one of the first cribs of Romantic architecture in Europe. Its own climate and the consequent nature attracted the eyes of those who sensitized to the landscape dared to retouch it with a stunning architecture in Edenic harmony propitious to the contemplation of the Beautiful and the Sublime. It is in this picturesque setting that we find, right at the exit from the historic center of Sintra, the Quinta da Regaleira. Designed and built in the course of the late eight centuries, it reflects the sensitivity and cultural, philosophical and scientific interests of the Owner, António Augusto de Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920), allied with the virtuosism of Italian architect-cenographer Luigi Manini (1848-1936). From the culture and creativity of these two personalities, it resulted in an eclectic-revivalist architectural ensemble, with particular focus on the styles Manuelino, Renaissance. Medieval and Classical. The Guide will also talk about the history of this Palace.

  4. 4

    Centro Historico de Sintra

    1 hour

Walk through the charming historic center of Sintra, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, full of history, culture and charm. Here you will have some free time to explore at your own pace, appreciate traditional architecture and discover local shops, cafes and typical restaurants. This is also the perfect opportunity to taste the famous traditional sweets, such as the Travesseiros and the Queijadas de Sintra, as well as to taste the traditional Portuguese ginjinha, often served in a glass of chocolate — which can be eaten at the end! Parque e Palacio de Monserrate

    1 hour

Palace of Monserrate Discover the elegant Monserrate Palace, one of Sintra’s most exotic and least explored treasures. With a unique architecture combining Arab, Indian and Gothic influences, this palace stands out for its unique beauty and impressive interior details. Surrounded by one of the most beautiful gardens in Portugal, the park of Monserrate invites you to a quiet walk among exotic plants coming from all over the world, lakes and charming paths.
