    A train journey in Sri Lanka is fun and a perfect opportunity to travel with locals. You will take the train to Colombo but enjoy only the first half of it, which is running through the Kandyan hill country, allowing you to see typical villages, paddy cultivation, tea plantations and spectacular vistas to the valley around Bible rock (Batalegala)

    Temple of the Gadaladenia

    Visit the Gampola period temple with original medieval paintings and statues from the mid 14th century.

    Lankatilaka Temple

    This is Sri Lanka's most beautiful temple from the Gampola period, the impressive shrine room is decorated with murals from the Kandy period.

    The Embekka Devalaya is famous for the island's most excellent wood carvings from the Kandy period.

Meeting and pickup

We will be welcoming you in the lobby of your hotel or for your convenience at a meeting point of your choice in Kandy City. After pickup in the hotel we will go by minivan to the train station and you will receive your 2nd class ticket without seat reservation, for free choice of seats, we recommend the left side of the train for better views. The train journey will take 90 minutes from Kandy to Rambukkana, where the driver will pick you up at the station and the minivan tour starts.
