Private Traditional Portuguese Cooking Class in Lisbon with Paula

Enjoy a private and authentic cooking class in a local home kitchen with your host Paula. This is a wonderful experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Your cooking class will take place in a local home kitchen where Paula will teach you 2-3 traditional Portuguese-influenced Goan dishes from her family recipes. After cooking, you will enjoy your meal together in Paula's home. This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional Portuguese culture and cuisine. Your experience will take place in Almada, just a short 7-minute ferry ride from downtown Lisbon. Paula will meet you at the ferry stop in Cacilhas and take you on a lovely 10-minute walk through the center of town to her apartment. Start your meal with a welcome drink of some Portuguese wine and appetizers. Then, in Paula's home kitchen you will learn to make 2-3 Portuguese and Portuguese-Goan dishes. You will learn to make two appetizers side-by-side such as pataniscas de bacalhau, traditional Portuguese cod fritters, and Goan bojas, gram flour fritters made with onion and cumin seeds. Then go on to make a main dish, where you can select between a Portuguese or Goan main dish, such as bacalhau a braz, a traditional Portuguese dish of cod with shredded potatoes and egg, or a Goan curry. After cooking, sit down together at Paula’s dining table or in her cooking studio table across the street. End your meal with a sweet dessert and coffee or tea. Please note that Paula has a cat and shares her home with a family so it can be a bit cluttered.
