Itinerary

  1. 1

    Schloss Neuschwanstein

    3 hours

Your visit to the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle, the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle, combines stunning alpine nature with the royal history of King Ludwig II. Key Activities Ascend to the Castle: The castle is dramatically situated high on a hill. You will enjoy a scenic walk (approx. 40 minutes) or can opt for a comfortable ride via shuttle bus or horse-drawn carriage (local fee applies). Visit the Marienbrücke (Queen Mary's Bridge): This popular stop provides the most famous and breathtaking postcard view of the castle from above a deep gorge. Castle Interior Tour: You will take a mandatory guided tour (approx. 35 minutes) to explore the private apartments and grand ceremonial halls of the 19th-century royal residence.

  2. 2

    Schloss Linderhof

    1 hour

Linderhof Palace is the smallest and the only palace King Ludwig II completed. Inspired by French Rococo, it served as his private retreat. Key Activities Palace Interior Tour: Take a short tour (approx. 25 minutes) to see the opulent interiors, including the magnificent Hall of Mirrors and the King's Bedroom. Note the famous "Tischleindeckdich"—a self-setting dining table designed for the solitary king. The Palace Gardens: Explore the beautifully designed Baroque park. Be sure to see the impressive Neptune Fountain which shoots a powerful jet of water hourly. Venus Grotto: This artificial stalactite cave was built as a stage setting for Richard Wagner's operas and features an underground lake where the king was rowed in a golden shell boat. Linderhof offers a fascinating look into the dreams of the "Fairy Tale King."

  3. 3

    Fussen

    1 hour

Füssen, the picturesque medieval town marking the end of Germany’s Romantic Road (Romantische Straße), is a must-see stop near Neuschwanstein. Explore the charming Historic Old Town with its narrow, cobblestone streets and buildings painted in bright, traditional Bavarian colors. These lanes are filled with unique shops and cozy cafes. Key sights include the magnificent High Castle (Hohes Schloss), known for its impressive late-Gothic architecture and illusionary painted façade. Below it, you'll find the majestic Baroque complex of St. Mang’s Abbey, home to the town museum. Füssen provides a perfect blend of history, architecture, and alpine charm.

  4. 4

    Ettal

    1 hour

Ettal Abbey is a magnificent Benedictine monastery nestled in the Bavarian Alps, close to Oberammergau and Linderhof Palace. Founded in 1330 by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian, the abbey is famous for its breathtaking Baroque Basilica, featuring an impressive dome and opulent Rococo interiors. The church is a major pilgrimage site, centering on a revered statue of the Virgin Mary. Today, Ettal remains an active monastic community, operating a high school and several commercial enterprises, notably a monastery brewery (since 1609) and a distillery known for its herbal liqueurs. Visitors can tour the Basilica and sample the monks' renowned traditional products.
