The temple is famous for its square-shaped chedi, influenced by Hariphunchai and Bagan (Pagan) architectural styles, which later became a model for many Lanna stupas. Wat Chedi Liam is considered an important historical and religious site, reflecting the early development of Lanna art and Buddhism. Wat Pu Pia and Wat I-Kang, both places are found in 1986 as ruins in Lanna temple styles.
