Inaugurated in 1922, the huge construction is inspired by the Temple of Zeus at Olympia. It is 58 meters wide, 31 meters deep and 30 meters high, and was designed by the architect Henry Bacon.

   the United States Capitol, home of the United States Congress and one of the most instantly recognizable buildings in the world. It was built at one end of the National Mall, on a hill, as in the plan of the city of Washington by Pierre l’Enfant, but the original design was the work of an amateur architect, William Thornton.
