As the only preserved cave castle in Europe, Predjama Castle offers a fascinating glimpse into the ingenuity and architectural skills of the Middle Ages, when people sought - and found - shelter right at the entrance to the cave. During a siege in the 15th century, the castle became the refuge of its most famous and notorious owner, Erazem of Predjama. The legend of this daring knight and rebellious robber baron, who defied his besiegers for over a year until betrayed by a servant, still captures the imagination today - an enduring tale of courage, defiance, and mystery.
