Itinerary

  1. 1

    Shurijo Castle Park

    1.3 hours

Explore Shurijo Castle Park, the historic heart of the former Ryukyu Kingdom. Walk through traditional stone gates, admire Okinawan architectural details, and discover the grounds that once formed the political and cultural center of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Enjoy the distinctive red architecture, stone walls, and elevated viewpoints while learning about the site's history through available exhibits and information displays. The castle's paid areas require a separate admission ticket. From November 23, 2026, entry to the restored main hall interior requires a timed reservation and is not guaranteed as part of the standard tour. The standard visit focuses on the castle park, accessible exterior areas, and selected viewpoints. A more extensive paid-area visit may require additional time.

  2. 2

    Stop 2

    1.3 hours

Visit Sefa-utaki, one of Okinawa's most important sacred sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site associated with the spiritual traditions of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Walk through a subtropical forest surrounded by impressive limestone formations and ancient places of prayer. Discover the atmosphere of a sacred landscape that remains meaningful to local religious traditions today. Please respect the site's spiritual importance by keeping noise low, following designated walking routes, and avoiding interference with worshippers. The walking route includes uneven stone paths, slopes, and potentially slippery surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. The ticket office is located at Nanjo City Local Products Center, approximately 500 meters from the entrance. Allow time to purchase tickets and walk to the site. Some sacred areas are restricted and cannot be entered by visitors.

  3. 3

    Stop 3

    25 min

Enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from Cape Chinen Park, one of the most scenic coastal viewpoints in southern Okinawa. Walk through the open park areas, admire the coastline, and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze. On clear days, take photographs of the blue ocean, surrounding greenery, and nearby islands. The park provides a peaceful contrast to the historical and spiritual sites visited earlier in the day. Ocean visibility and weather conditions cannot be guaranteed.

  4. 4

    Ojima Island

    45 min

Discover Ojima, a small island connected to Okinawa's main island by a bridge. Explore its relaxed fishing-village atmosphere, enjoy views of the surrounding sea, and observe a quieter side of everyday island life. Ojima is also known for Okinawan-style tempura. Guests may choose to try freshly fried seafood or vegetable tempura from an available local shop. Enjoy a casual snack or light lunch at your own expense while exploring the island's simple streets and waterfront. Restaurant opening hours and waiting times vary. Specific shops and food availability cannot be guaranteed.

  5. 5

    Okinawa World Culture Kingdom Gyokusendo

    2 hours

Discover Okinawa World, a cultural attraction showcasing the natural environment and traditional heritage of the Ryukyu Islands. Begin with Gyokusendo Cave, a spectacular limestone cave featuring impressive stalactites, underground waterways, and illuminated rock formations. Walk through the publicly accessible cave route and experience a remarkable underground landscape formed over thousands of years. After exploring the cave, continue through the traditional Ryukyu-style village area to see reconstructed streets, craft displays, and cultural exhibits. Depending on the time of your visit, you may also have the opportunity to watch a traditional Eisa performance. Show schedules and availability are determined by the attraction and cannot be guaranteed. Optional craft activities, including Bingata dyeing and Ryukyu glassmaking, require separate arrangements and fees. The cave is not wheelchair accessible, and some areas may be temporarily restricted for safety reasons.
