Kawasaki Daishi Walking Tour and Kanayama Shrine

Explore Kawasaki Daishi Temple with me! We will walk through typical shops to the main temple, where I will guide you through purification rituals, prayers and the discovery of your fortune with the omikuji. An authentic experience! After that, we will move on foot to Kanayama Shrine, where a phallic symbol as a deity is venerated. This sanctuary is said to bring benefits for the prosperity of the offspring, marital harmony and protection from sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, the festival held every year on the first Sunday of April is known worldwide as "Kanamara Matsuri" (Festival of the iron phallus).

   Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji Temple

   Pass by

   Walk along the Omotesando of Kawasaki Daishi.I walk looking at the historic Kuzumochi store along the Sando.Then, I walk along Nakamise street, where there are many nice shops.We will visit a Daruma shop, which is said to bring good luck, and a traditional Japanese chopstick shop.If you want to engrave your name in Kanji, I will help you choose the most suitable fonts.At Kawasaki Daishi Temple, I will explain the purification rituals and the correct way to pray.Then, you can try these traditions yourself.In addition, I will also give you explanations about the "Omikuji", the notes of fortune.

   Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji Temple

   We walk slowly along the Omotesando (the main access avenue) starting from the door of exorcism.

   Kawasakidaishi Nakamise Street

   30 min

   We continue walking and enter the Nakamise-dori street of Kawasaki Daishi. We stroll calmly looking at the various shops, such as those of Daruma (lucky dolls) and chopsticks (hashi).

   Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji Temple

   45 min

   Now we will have an authentic experience at Kawasaki Daishi temple: ritual prayer, purification and trying your luck with the Omikuji.

   Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji Temple

   20 min

   We continue on foot towards Kanayama Shrine. After the visit, the tour will end at Kawasaki-Daishi Station, where we will say goodbye.
