Kimono, a symbolic icon of Japanese culture, is not just something you wear. It reflects how we live and feel in our daily lives. During your special visit to Japan, I would like to offer you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the unique wisdom of kimono. The knowledge and experience you gain from this workshop will be the most valuable souvenir to bring home from Japan. This workshop offers a rich cultural and artistic experience that will stimulate your senses. Perfect for those who want to see real kimonos crafted with the finest authentic techniques in Japan, it provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in traditional Japanese artistry.

What's included

  • Wearing an authentic, traditionally crafted kimono and obi.
  • Green tea and Japanese sweets.
  • Private transportation

Itinerary

The workshop will start with a short talk about kimono – its history as a symbol of Japanese culture and its detailed creation process. The design of kimono has many meanings, filled with relationships between people, space, nature, and “the invisible” as something tangible. To share the efficiency of how kimonos are made and what goes into the art of making them, we will create our own kimonos using paper. This is not origami; we will use traditional cutting methods. Through this experience, you will understand not only how efficiently kimonos are made but also what it is like to wear one. In the end, we will enjoy a tea ceremony with seasonal Japanese sweets within the serenity of a traditional Japanese tatami room. For those who wish, you are also invited to experience the elegance of wearing an authentic, traditionally crafted kimono at Kimono Kitaura. This unique store in Japan specializes in exquisite silk kimonos, each handmade by master craftsmen from Kyoto. Take this opportunity to feel the luxurious fabric on your skin and enjoy the distinctive sensation of wearing a genuine kimono.
