Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangement) Workshop in Beppu

This ikebana workshop offers more than flower arranging. Led by an experienced instructor, it combines storytelling, mindfulness, and sustainability through the use of loss flowers. With its 'kamishibai' (paper story-telling) style introduction, interactive quiz, and hands on creation, participants experience Japanese culture in a calm, personal, and meaningful way. Each guest creates a unique arrangement and leaves feeling relaxed, inspired, and more connected to nature and Japan.

Discover the calming beauty of 'ikebana' in this hands-on workshop at Space Beppu, led by Minori-sensei, who has over ten years of experience. The session begins with a friendly and engaging introduction to the history and philosophy of ikebana, explained through a 'kamishibai' paper storytelling style that makes learning easy and enjoyable. More than just flower arrangement, ikebana teaches patience, mindfulness, and a deeper connection with nature. Participants also learn about sustainability by using loss flowers, helping to reduce waste and support Japan’s SDGs efforts. A short quiz and open, welcoming atmosphere make the workshop approachable even for first timers. During the hands-on session, you will choose flowers based on your mood and create your own arrangement while learning about balance, length, and form. Even with the same materials, every arrangement becomes a unique personal expression. The workshop ends with a gentle musical moment, leaving participants relaxed, inspired, and with a deeper appreciation of Japanese culture.
