Overview

This private guided tour with a friendly government-licensed local guide and a private vehicle is the most relaxed and efficient way to discover Hiroshima. You're picked up up at your hotel in central Hiroshima (or at Hiroshima Port for cruise passengers) and tailor the day to what interests you most. Over six hours you travel comfortably by car or van between Hiroshima's highlights. Walk through the moving Peace Memorial Park, stand before the UNESCO-listed Atomic Bomb Dome, and learn the city's story at the Peace Memorial Museum. Cross to Miyajima for the iconic floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, stroll Shukkeien Garden, and admire Hiroshima Castle. Because it is fully customizable, you choose two to three sites from the itinerary and your guide builds the perfect route - no rushing for trains, no crowded group buses. Ideal for first-time visitors, families and cruise travelers who want the best of Hiroshima in one comfortable day.

Itinerary

  1. 1

    Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

    40 min

The Peace Memorial Park is the symbolic heart of Hiroshima, dedicated to the memory of the 1945 atomic bombing and to world peace. Your guide will walk you through the leafy grounds along the river, explaining the Cenotaph, the Peace Flame and the Children's Peace Monument.

  2. 2

    Atomic Bomb Dome

    20 min

The Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the skeletal ruin left standing near the hypocenter of the 1945 bombing. It is Hiroshima's most powerful symbol of peace and resilience.

  3. 3

    Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

    45 min

The Peace Memorial Museum tells the story of Hiroshima and the human impact of the atomic bomb through powerful exhibits, photographs and personal belongings. A moving, deeply educational experience.

  4. 4

    Itsukushima Shrine

    1 hour

On Miyajima Island, the iconic Itsukushima Shrine appears to float on the sea, its great vermilion torii gate rising from the water at high tide - one of Japan's most beautiful and photographed views.

  5. 5

    Shukkeien

    30 min

Shukkeien is an exquisite Japanese landscape garden dating from 1620, with a central pond, miniature scenery, arched bridges, tea houses and seasonal blossoms in the heart of Hiroshima.

  6. 6

    Hiroshima Castle

    30 min

Hiroshima Castle (広島城, Hiroshimajō), also called the Carp Castle, is a notable example of a castle built on a plain in the center of a city. Its grounds are surrounded by a moat, and the castle precincts include a shrine, historic ruins, and reconstructed Ninomaru (second bailey) buildings. Built in 1589 by the powerful feudal lord Mori Terumoto, Hiroshima Castle was an important seat of power in Western Japan. Like the rest of the city, it was destroyed by the atomic bombing in 1945. ※Please note that Hiroshima Castle’s main keep has been closed to the public since March 2026 due to safety concerns. The castle can still be viewed from the outside, while the Ninomaru buildings, Ninomaru Museum Shop, and Sannomaru area remain open to visitors.

  7. 7

    Hiroshima Orizuru Tower

    30 min

The Orizuru Tower stands beside the Peace Park with an open-air observation deck offering sweeping views over the Atomic Bomb Dome and the city, plus a striking paper-crane art wall.

  8. 8

    Okonomimura

    30 min

Okonomimura is a multi-floor food hall packed with stalls serving Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki - the city's famous layered savory pancake of noodles, cabbage and toppings, cooked on a hot griddle right in front of you.
