Hike to Monte Albán at Sunrise

It is the only short hike in the mountains of the city and from here you can spend an incredible morning with the view of the valley at sunrise without having to spend a whole day traveling, you can also visit the archaeological zone at the end of your hike. We have been doing the walks for more than 3 years and you will be able to hear the legends and stories of those of us who live near the archaeological zone. You can take a taxi or a bus to return to the city, it is the perfect way to enjoy the city, climb a mountain and also see the Zapotec city. The activity only takes 2 and a half hours, so if you have other activities in your day you can do them without having to allocate a whole day to an incredible hike in the mountains of Oaxaca.

We will meet there to prepare to climb the Monte Alban hill, we will begin with a steep walk but we can climb without rushing, it is about 40 minutes climbing to see the first incredible views of the city at dawn. Along the way we will have breaks of 5 to 10 minutes to tell you the myths and legends of Monte Alban, as well as the history of the civilization that was there. We will arrive at the resting point called La Mona where we will talk about the rituals and stories that people tell about that place, the name of Oaxaca and why we have it and then continue walking to the highest point of the walk, there we will be able to have a 360 view of the city. Among pine trees we will reach the architectural area that is free and we will be able to talk about the ball game that we will have in front of us as well as the temples and rituals of the Zapotecs. We will sit down to rest to eat a snack and an ice pop so that later they can enter the Monte Alban area on their own, they can spend as much time as they like inside and go out to take a bus to the city center or taxi.
