Overview

I am a native of Xochimilco, deeply engaged in the preservation and revitalization of its unique ecosystem and cultural heritage. My work is centered on collaborative efforts with local chinamperos (traditional farmers) and environmental activists to physically restore the ancient chinampa landscape. This hands-on experience is informed by my deep knowledge of the area's history and its Indigenous communities, allowing me to act as a bridge between Xochimilco's profound past and its sustainable future. This isn't just a tour; it's a celebration of sustainable traditions Proudly Plastic-Free: From start to finish, this is a zero single-use plastic experience. True Fair Trade: Every ingredient we buy and every expert we meet supports local development. Your fun directly fuels the community. Active Conservation: We don't just talk about the environment—we protect it.

What's included

  • Coffee or tea alongside a sweet bread or tamal.

    Itinerary

Here’s how your unforgettable day unfolds: Breakfast to Start the Day: We’ll kick things off at a cozy local restaurant with a delicious Mexican coffee break to fuel up! Taco Treasure Hunt: Next, we’ll head to the lively markets where you’ll pick out the freshest ingredients for your cooking session—plus, this is true fair trade in action, as every peso spent directly supports the community. Bicitaxi Adventure: After that, we’ll hop into a colourful bicitaxi for a fun, breezy ride through town, making your way to the piers. Cruise & Taco Time: At the canals, we'll board your vibrant Trajinera and glide into the mesmerising landscape. This is where the magic happens! We'll learn to craft the perfect "taco placero" together, enjoying the flavours with an unbeatable view. And don't worry about waste—this is a proudly plastic-free experience, keeping our precious canals pristine. Nature & Wildlife Fun: The journey continues as we disembark to explore a real, working chinampa (floating garden) to learn the ancient farming secrets. We’ll wrap up by visiting an axolotl sanctuary, where you'll meet these charming, smiley-faced amphibians up close.
