Marble trout, the most well-known and recognizable fish of the river, carries with it a rich history, stories, and biological intricacies shaped by the course of history. As the name suggests, the Soča (Isonzo in Italian) River witnessed the Isonzo Front during World War I, leaving behind remnants and traces of historically significant battles encountered at every turn during fishing. Understanding and experiencing a place that is visited for the first time, foreign and unfamiliar, means grasping and acknowledging its history and culture.
