One of the shrine's most famous attractions is the sacred "Flying Plum Tree" (Tobiume), which legend says flew overnight from Kyoto to Dazaifu out of devotion to Michizane. Students from all over Japan visit the shrine to pray for success in examinations and academic achievement.
