Stretching 300 meters and lined with around 150 shops, Sunroad is filled with everyday charm — from cozy cafés and fashion boutiques to long-standing family stores. It’s the perfect place to feel the lively, local rhythm of Kichijoji.

   Next, we’ll visit Gesso-ji Temple, the heart of Kichijoji’s history and the reason this town was originally formed.    We’ll finish at Harmonica Yokocho, a narrow maze of small bars and eateries that began as a post-war black market. Its name comes from how the tiny alleyways resemble the reeds of a harmonica.
