Overview
Leave the town behind and head deep into the Sahara on a full-day 4x4 expedition from Douz to Tembaine, the twin flat-topped mountains rising from the heart of the Grand Erg Oriental. The drive is part of the adventure: roughly three hours each way across rolling dunes and open desert, with photo stops along the route. At Tembaine, explore the fossil plains and the old desert well, climb the dunes for wide views across the erg, and try sandboarding on the soft slopes. The route runs around the Jbil area, where desert wildlife is sometimes seen. This is a long, remote day for travellers who want the deep Sahara without an overnight stay. Includes Douz hotel pickup and drop-off, 4x4 transport with a local driver-guide, and sandboarding.

Sahara Desert

Off-road 4x4 ride from Douz to Tembaine through golden dunes, rocky plains and barren expanses. The route takes approximately three hours, with expert driving and photo stops. The route is around the Jbil area; wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. The track is bumpy and remote.

Reach Tembaine around 11 AM and explore the mountain scenery, multiform dunes and desert well. Enjoy dune activities and included sandboarding.

Located in Douz city center on Avenue Taieb Mhiri, directly across the road from the STB Bank. You will see our main agency name sign positioned right above the entrance door and a prominent wind billboard standing directly out front.
Pickup is available from hotels in Douz, or you can meet us at the meeting point. On the day of your tour, our agency will contact you first to arrange your pickup. Your driver-guide will then call you when he arrives at your hotel.
