A local landmark, located in the small fishing village of Little River, SC the governors lighthouse was commissioned in 1984. It was built to honor all South Carolina governors past and present. The lighthouse is a facsimile lighthouse, meaning it cannot be used a navigation aid.

Waties Island is one of the last undeveloped barrier islands in South Carolina.
