Beyond the Prison: Robben Island Experience

Tour includes Robben Island tickets ferry (our option is subject to weather permitting and availability)11 kilometer out of Cape Town lies Robben Island,a true symbol of triumph over adversity. A 2,5 hour tour of the museum on the Island begins at the Mandela Gateway in V&A Waterfront.After a 45 minute ferry ride,our group take a tour of the former maximum-Security jail,and a 30 minute bus ride around the Island.Robben Island is where former late political prisoner Nelson Mandela and others developed their concepts for post -apartheid South Africa concepts that led to the overthrow of a brutal regime and the development of the one of the world’s most liberal democracy.
