Bayreuth Self-Guided City Walking Tour & Scavenger Hunt

Wagner chose this town for his festival, but a margravine built its wildest treasure first — Bayreuth rewards the curious. This app-led scavenger hunt takes you through Bayreuth on foot, using phone-based riddles to guide you from one landmark to the next. No guide, no fixed start time. • Face the Markgräfliches Opernhaus, a UNESCO baroque jewel • Tour the facades of the Neues Schloss, the margraves' residence • Meet the Dinosaurier, the town's most unexpected resident Available in 24 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian — see the full list when booking and choose yours when you start the game in the app. Around 2 hours - any group size. An opera of a town — no tickets required.

Starting at Luitpoldplatz 13, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and walk into Bayreuth's compact centre. The tour is fully self-guided — no guide, no fixed start time, just your group and the city. The Markgräfliches Opernhaus takes the overture — a UNESCO-listed baroque theatre so magnificent it lured Wagner to town, though he found it too small for his ambitions. Riddles take their seats. The Neues Schloss follows, Margravine Wilhelmine's palace of rococo fantasies, garden and all. Trivia curtsies through the courtyards. Then the Dinosaurier delivers the plot twist — a life-sized saurian standing guard where you'd least expect one, a local mascot with its own fan base. Around two hours from opera to prehistory. The leaderboard delivers the final aria.
