Upon reaching the Balos area, you’ll follow a natural trail of moderate difficulty, taking about 1 hour in total (25 minutes downhill and 35 minutes uphill). The trail is part of the adventure and offers unforgettable views! You’ll have around 4 hours of free time in the area (1 hour in total for the trail), including approximately 3 hours of actual beach time to swim in the crystal-clear waters, explore the lagoon, relax and take photos. Along the way, you may encounter Crete’s wildlife, including wild goats and eagles, as well as bees and other local species. The drive from our office in Kissamos to the Balos parking area takes approximately 1 hour, with plenty of beautiful scenery along the route.
