   Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

   Ubud Monkey Forest is one of the most famous Bali Places of Interest occupies 27 lush, green acres at the lower end of Jalan Monkey Forest in the village of Padangtegal. Home to over 400 long tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) which are divided into 4 groups that occupy different areas of the park, it is an important cultural and spiritual site that welcomes upwards of 10,000 visitors each month. Located on the cool western edge of Bedulu Village, six kilometers out of central Ubud, you do not need more than an hour to descend to its relic filled courtyard and view the rock-wall carvings, a central meditational cave, bathing pools and fountains. The temple name is slightly misleading, lending the impression that its a gigantic dwelling full of elephants.
