Overview
There’s more to Bacalar than its famous seven shades of blue. Hidden cenotes, crystal-clear swimming spots, and a channel once traveled by pirates reveal the stories behind one of Mexico’s most extraordinary lagoons. Experience it from the best possible perspective: on the water, aboard a small-group boat with only 10–12 guests. Away from crowded sightseeing stops, you’ll have the chance to swim, explore, and take in the incredible colors and natural beauty that make Bacalar unlike anywhere else in the Mexican Caribbean. With convenient round-trip transportation from Costa Maya Port, getting there is easy. After your time on the water, enjoy tacos and refreshing drinks at a lakeside club overlooking the lagoon — a relaxed finish to a day filled with turquoise waters, swimming, and a little pirate history.

Begin your adventure from Costa Maya to Bacalar’s famous Seven Color Lagoon, known for its beautiful shades of turquoise and blue. Your tour departs one hour after your cruise ship arrives and is designed for ships with at least 8 hours in port. Board a small boat for approximately 2 hours exploring the lagoon and some of its most fascinating natural and historic sites. Visit Cenote Esmeralda, Cenote La Bruja, Cocalitos, and the Pirate’s Channel, once a haven and passage for Caribbean pirates. Along the way, stop at two beautiful locations to swim, cool off, and enjoy Bacalar’s clear turquoise waters. After your boat adventure, relax for about 45 minutes at the Lake Shore Club overlooking the lagoon and enjoy an included Mexican taco lunch with chips, salsa, and non-alcoholic drinks. Guests 21 and older also receive two alcoholic beverages. Then sit back and enjoy the approximately 1-hour and 15-minute return drive to Costa Maya, with your cruise schedule always kept in mind.
