Overview

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Japan’s second biggest city and step into the world of matcha. In this tea ceremony class in Osaka, you’ll learn about the deep history and etiquette of this intricate Japanese tradition from a friendly English-speaking host. Traditionally, participants sit in a kneeling position known as “seiza”, but this class allows you to take part from the comfort of a chair, so you can focus on making matcha the authentic way.

What's included

  • Japanese matcha green tea
  • Japanese sweets
  • Traditional tools for making matcha tea

    Itinerary

Experienced Japanese instructors will teach you an authentic Japanese tea ceremony in English. You can experience it sitting on a chair, so you don't have to worry about sitting straight! First, the instructor will give a lecture on the background and tools of SADO (tea ceremony), then prepare the matcha for you. You will learn the etiquette of tasting the matcha along with beautiful Japanese sweets. Next, the instructor will explain the etiquette of making matcha and the meaning of each action. You will make the matcha yourself according to the etiquette, then enjoy it again with a small Japanese sweet.
